"Another look at the United States, by the first-time French directors Vincent Gérard and Cédric Laty, was one of the most original French competitors. 'By the Ways (A Journey with William Eggleston)' follows the American photographer without making him or his photos the subject, but rather by looking at him - and his passions - without an ounce of reverence. Oblique and artful without being coy or arty, 'By the Ways' seemed to take the public by surprise. --Joan Dupont, International Herald Tribune ---------- JUNE 2005 ![]() ![]() William Eggleston: The Nightclub Portraits 1973 June 28-September 3, 2005 Cheim & Read Gallery, 547 W. 25th St., New York, NY ---------- ![]() ![]() Stranded in Canton "Shot in 1974 with a Sony Porta-pak, the crazily careering "Stranded in Canton" documents a cast of hard-drinking Southerners with the intimacy, ease and instability of a seasoned participant." - Roberta Smith, The New York Times Read the New York Times review of Stranded in Canton.
